CBD for anxiety
42% of UK adults are feeling more anxious now than they were at the start of the Covid 19 lockdown.
That’s the verdict of a new report by leading polling company YouGov to discover just how us Brits have been coping with the stress, confusion and anxiety that the pandemic has brought to our shores.
According to the survey of 2,014 adults (weighted to be representative of the GB population), millennials (18-34 year olds) were twice as likely to turn to natural therapies like CBD than to use prescription medication more frequently to help with lockdown anxiety (6% vs 3%).
When asked how they’d been coping with anxiety during lockdown, one in five individuals said they’d been drinking more alcohol and almost a third (32%) said they’d resorted to comfort eating.
And, according to the report, our biggest worries about life after lockdown are as follows:
- increased chance of either themselves or their loved ones of catching the virus with the easing of the lockdown (36%)
- uncertainty about life after lockdown (30%)
- 18-24 year olds said they were anxious about money (15%)
- 25-34 year olds said they were anxious about money (13%)
Does CBD help anxiety?
While CBD products were popular choices to help with lockdown anxiety, the report suggests that women also favoured mindfulness techniques and men, video games. 28% of those surveyed said they were also exercising more.
Interestingly, a whopping 51% of people said that they would like to make changes to their ‘normal’ life when lockdown ends, proving that the last couple of months have indeed been a time of reflection for many.
